Blog #10-Andrew Jackson


Andrew Jackson was elected in 1828.  He was known as Old Hickory because of his tough and stubborn personality.  There are many positive and negative attributes used to describe President Jackson.

Pick one negative or positive action that Andrew Jackson took part in and explain why it was looked at in that light.

Blog #9-Missouri Compromise

This photo is taken from the book, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick.

Compare this image to the Missouri Compromise of 1820.  For example, the chair rail in this photo separates the top and bottom of the room just like the Missouri Compromise further divided the northern states and the southern states over the issue of slavery.

Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were two of the early leaders of the U.S. They had very different opinions on how to run the country.  

Pick one aspect that they differed on and explain both sides.  In addition, explain which side you would have supported if you had lived in the early 1800s and why.

This is one of the most famous photos of the American Revolution showing George Washington crossing the Delaware river in the freezing cold on Christmas night to surprise the British.

Choose one battle during the American Revolution, describe the significance of the battle and the outcome.  Be sure not to duplicate another student's battle.
